Pittsburgh Opera - Romeo and Juliet
Pittsburgh Opera brings Charles Gounod’s operatic take on Shakespeare’s tragedy to the stage, where the feud between Verona’s Montagues and Capulets gives way to a secret marriage and heartbreak. Sung in French with English supertitles, the production features soprano Lydia Katarina as Juliet and tenor Oreste Cosimo as Romeo, with Antony Walker conducting. Gounod’s lyrical score follows the lovers from their first meeting at a masked ball to the story’s devastating finale.
