Mei Semones
Mei Semones brings a distinctive guitar-led sound to indie pop, threading intricate jazz and bossa nova touches through songs sung in both Japanese and English. A Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter who studied at Berklee College of Music, she introduced her full-length work with Animaru, featuring tracks such as “Dumb Feeling” and “Tora Moyo.” Her nimble guitar writing and light, intimate vocals make room for melodies that feel playful and carefully crafted at once.
