Calvary Episcopal Church Used Book Sale
Find your next great read - and more - at Calvary Episcopal Church’s annual Used Book Sale, one of the region’s largest and longest-running used book sales.
The big event kicks off with a Preview Party from 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 14 and continues daily from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, August 15 through Sunday, August 23 in Calvary’s Parish Hall, 315 Shady Ave, Pittsburgh 15206. New this year: an evening session Thursday, Aug. 20 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Admission to the preview party is $10; the remainder of the sale is free and open to all.
All proceeds benefit the Calvary Bookstore’s mission of promoting literacy. Since the sale’s inception in 2006, almost $70,000 has been donated to local educational and literacy organizations.
Calvary’s sale features thousands of books ranging from beach reads to Bible studies. Categories include history, travel, children’s, popular and literary fiction, politics, religion, spirituality, LGBTQ interest, cooking, gardening, Pittsburgh/regional interest and more. CDs, DVDs, video/audio tapes, vinyl records and other items such as sheet music are also available.
At the preview event, prices range from 50 cents, or three for $1, for “mass market” or “pocket” books, to $1 for paperbacks, $2 for hardbacks, and a very few select specially priced books, none higher than $10. For the remainder of the sale, patrons may fill a bag with books for only $15. (A brown paper bag is supplied at the sale for this purpose.)
