VisitPITTSBURGH celebrates 90 years of service across region’s travel sector
(PITTSBURGH, PA) – There’s a reason Pittsburgh was named by Lonely Planet as Best in Travel for 2025. VisitPITTSBURGH today announced an extraordinary year ahead, filled with a dynamic and diverse lineup of events, new attractions and major milestones that await Pittsburgh in 2025.
“2025 is shaping up to be an extraordinary year for Pittsburgh—and for VisitPITTSBURGH,” said Jerad Bachar, President & CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH. “For 90 years, our organization has proudly served as the steward of Allegheny County’s travel and tourism industry. Highlights of what’s new and noteworthy in 2025 include:
- 2025 U.S. Open: Oakmont Country Club is set to host the prestigious U.S. Open in June, offering thrilling golf, enhanced fan experiences and exclusive tours in this legendary venue.
- August Wilson House: Celebrate August Wilson’s 80th birthday at the annual August Wilson Birthday Block Party—offering a lively afternoon of performances, vendors and activities.
- Bike the Burgh: Bike the Burgh celebrates 10 years of guided bike tours to showcase Pittsburgh’s history, architecture and vibrant neighborhoods.
- Moonshot Museum: Enjoy new, immersive, 360-degree experiences thanks to the Moonshot Museum’s new Planetarium Program, allowing both students and visitors to role-play as space engineers.
- New Terminal, Pittsburgh International Airport: Pittsburgh’s new airport terminal plans to open in 2025, offering modern amenities, innovative design, a smoother travel experience and VisitPITTSBURGH’s reimagined traveler information center.
- NFL Draft Preparation: Pittsburgh will soon be on the clock as the city ramps up planning and preparation to host the 2026 NFL Draft.
- Picklesburgh: This July, Picklesburgh celebrates its 10th anniversary, as the festival grows bigger and better than ever with pickle-inspired eats, games and more.
- Unique Sporting Events: From high-speed races at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix to the Savannah Bananas and gravity-defying BMX competitions, 2025 is a year of action-packed entertainment.
In addition to marquee events, Pittsburgh continues to innovate with new attractions and developments, including the reopening of Allegheny Riverfront Park’s upper promenade, grand opening of Venture Outdoors’ new Downtown dock and launch of the Pittsburgh Riveters SC, the city’s new women’s soccer club. Together, these initiatives further underscore the city’s commitment to providing a dynamic and engaging experience for both residents and visitors alike.
