In collaboration with the Frick Environmental Center, the Society to Preserve the Millvale Murals of Maxo Vanka is pleased to present a new exhibition featuring new original works commissioned through SPMMMV’s Gift to America 2.0 program, onsite installations and selections from the Vanka Collection and the Vanka Murals. This exhibition celebrates and demonstrates reverence for art, history, humanity, and nature.
GTA 2.0 commissions local and regional BIPOC and Immigrant artists to create new works that engage with immigrant artist’s Maxo Vanka’s one-of-a-kind murals in St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church, fostering contemporary dialogues that reflect the rich tapestry of our region. These commissions, launched in 2021, bring new perspectives to Vanka’s themes of justice, injustice, the immigrant experience, and motherhood.
