SportsPITTSBURGH Wins NASC “Marketing Campaign of the Year” Award

VisitPITTSBURGH has been recognized for their unique and dedicated sports marketing campaign.

SACRAMENTO (March 28, 2017)— VisitPITTSBURGH’s sports development team was honored as the recipient of the 2016 “Marketing Campaign of the Year” Award for cities with population of 400,000 and above at this year’s National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) Sports Event Symposium being held this week in Sacramento.

The Marketing Campaign of the Year award goes to an active NASC member in each budget category with the most outstanding comprehensive marketing campaign for the organization or an event. This can include a variety of types of marking, including print ads, newsletters, email blasts, digital marketing (including websites, social media components, etc.), press releases, media coverage or any other promotional program. The campaign should promote the organization as a sports destination.

Judges noted in the winning entry: “The cohesiveness of the SportsPITTSBURGH marketing campaign across all medium was very impressive. Their campaign has proven to be authentic, iconic and game-changing by reflecting on their history while focusing on the future.”

“We are honored to be recognized by our peers for our Authentic and Iconic Pittsburgh campaign, which continues to be positively received,” said Jennifer Hawkins, director of sports development for VisitPITTSBURGH. “Our goals with this campaign were to demonstrate that Pittsburgh is not only a legendary and iconic sports city but the sports city, raise awareness of our SportsPITTSBURGH brand, show how Pittsburgh offers an authentic experience to athletes and fans, and communicate why Pittsburgh is the perfect place to crown new champions at your sports event.”

The 25th annual NASC Sports Event Symposium is being held March 27-30 at the Sacramento Convention Center.
