Check out the latest releases in the gaming industry at the Replay FX Arcade & Video Game Festival in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh, PA - More than 3,000 pinball and arcade game experts and other gamers will be showing off their skills when the Replay FX Arcade & Video Game Festival returns to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, July 28-30. It will be the third year in a row that the event will be held in Pittsburgh. This year, 13-year old Escher Lefkoff from Longmont, Colorado will be competing in the pinball championships. He is the current reigning Professional & Amateur Pinball Association Champion, and he will be competing against Six-Time World Champion and 2016 Pinburgh champion Keith Elwin of Chicago, IL.
The festival will, again, feature the largest public collection of working pinball, arcade, tabletop and console games anywhere, and all games are free to play with the price of admission. More than 750 arcade and pinball machines and more than 2,000 retro console games will be available to play. Attendees are also invited to attend a series of seminars dedicated to pinball and arcade games.
Some of the world's best pinball wizards will compete in the Pinburgh Match-Play Championships, while some of the best arcade players will compete in the Donkey Kong World Championships. More than $110,000 in prize money is up for grabs.
Mark Steinman, ReplayFX director said that Pittsburgh has become a natural choice for this event. "Pittsburgh already had a fantastic retro pinball and arcade scene, and we felt like it was the perfect location for our foundation to put down roots and grow," said Steinman. "Introducing a new generation of kids to what entertained us adults in the 70's, 80's, and 90's is also a great way to help connect different generations, so we all can learn a little bit more about one another. The support that we've received from the city of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities is what makes it all possible."
"We are happy to welcome back the Replay FX Arcade & Video Game Festival, a truly authentic and iconic event in Pittsburgh's line-up," said Derek Dawson, sports development director at SportsPITTSBURGH. "This weekend, Pittsburgh will be welcoming gamers and pinball champions from around the world. If the competition this year is anything like the last two years, this will be the place to be."
Admission prices range from $94.99 for a full-event pass to one-day passes of $29.99 for adults and $19.99 for children ages 6-12.
As the sports development division of VisitPITTSBURGH, SportsPITTSBURGH's primary goal is to attract and host a wide variety of sporting events in the region, providing the experience and expertise to reinforce Pittsburgh's reputation as a legendary sports town.
