To Promote VisitPITTSBURGH Marketing Campaign Ahead of National Launch
PITTSBURGH – VisitPITTSBURGH’s Marketing department today announced that Pittsburghers, in large numbers, are spreading the welcoming message of the organization’s Pull Up A Chair, You Are Welcomed Here marketing campaign scheduled for a national launch on April 29.
VisitPITTSBURGH gave Pittsburghers a sneak peek this week because city residents every day are welcoming thousands of visitors to Pittsburgh, and because the tourism agency wants Pittsburghers around the world to share the video and its welcoming message. In the first 24 hours after the release of the campaign video, more than 85,000 people had viewed it. In 48 hours, more than 200,000 had viewed it and 1,800 people shared it.
“We knew that this campaign had a message that would differentiate us from other cities’ marketing campaigns, and we were counting on the pride Pittsburghers around the world have in our city to spread the campaign messaging,” said Tom Loftus, chief marketing officer of VisitPITTSBURGH. “And, our great residents definitely are helping spread the good word. It provides this campaign a lot of momentum as we roll it out nationally next week. Thank you, Pittsburghers!”
Here are just a few comments from locals:
The campaign video will play on a video board in Times Square for four weeks in addition to being part of an intro package for the A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood Mister Rogers movie, starring Tom Hanks, when it plays at five theatres in New York City, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. over a four-week period. Overall promotion of the campaign will target both drive and fly markets including Boston, Chicago, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa and Washington, D.C.
VisitPITTSBURGH encourages people across the country to share the welcoming message in the campaign video, adding #LovePGH to any posts on social media. “We think that the message of Pull Up A Chair, You Are Welcomed Here can be applied in so many ways and to all types of people,” said Loftus. “We feel we have captured in this campaign the friendliness of our residents, and we invite visitors from around the world to come to Pittsburgh and find out for themselves why our city is special.”
