From Pittsburgh to the Bayou: Daniel Kraus Talks New George A. Romero Collaboration, Folk Horror, and Archives Research
The University of Pittsburgh’s Library System welcomes New York Times bestselling author Daniel Kraus on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m., to discuss his new novel with George A. Romero, Pay the Piper. In 2019, while sifting through the University of Pittsburgh Library's System's George A. Romero Archival Collection, novelist Daniel Kraus turned up a surprise: a half-finished novel called Pay the Piper, a project few had ever heard of. In the years since, Kraus has worked with Romero's estate to bring this unfinished masterwork to light. Pay the Piper is a terrifying tale of supernatural horror set in a cursed Louisiana bayou. Join Ben Rubin, the University’s Horror Studies Collection Coordinator, for a presentation and interview with Daniel Kraus about Pay the Piper and the new release's path from archives to shelves. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged at the linked website.
